Holland America Line wordt de eerste cruisemaatschappij ter wereld die internationale visserijcertificeringen ontvangt

We hadden de eer om het nieuwste schip van Holland America Line te bezoeken: ‘Rotterdam’. HAL staat in de top 10 van de meest ‘LGBTQ+ Friendly’ cruisemaatschappijen ter wereld. Een bezoek stond dan ook op mijn bucketlist. De maatschappij staat ook bekend voor zijn heerlijke keuken aan boord en het Global Fresh Fish program. HAL versterkt haar bekroonde diner-ervaring door de eerste cruisemaatschappij ter wereld te worden die van zowel de Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) als de Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certificeringen ontvangt. De twee organisaties bieden wereldwijd de meest geloofwaardige standaarden voor gecertificeerde vis-, schaal- en schelpdierproducten.

De waardevolle certificeringen tillen het Global Fresh Fish Program van Holland America Line naar een hoger niveau. De certificaten onderstrepen de toewijding van de cruisemaatschappij om haar gasten vis- en zeevruchten van de hoogste kwaliteit te serveren die duurzaam zijn gevangen in het wild of verantwoord zijn grootgebracht als ze zijn gekweekt volgens de strengste wereldwijde normen.

Marine Stewardship Council | Aquaculture Stewardship Council


Terwijl het Marine Stewardship Council zich richt op duurzame, in het wild gevangen vis, ligt de focus van het Aquaculture Stewardship Council op verantwoord gekweekte vis. Beide organisaties streven ernaar om de impact op het milieu te minimaliseren. Het aansluiten bij beide keurmerken betekent dat Holland America Line zich inzet voor programma’s die duurzame visserij erkennen en belonen, het oceaanmilieu beschermen en de vis-, schaal- en schelpdierenmarkt in de richting van meer duurzaamheid bewegen.

Dineren aan boord en gastervaring

Gasten kunnen genieten van een verscheidenheid aan door de Marine Stewardship Council en Aquaculture Stewardship Council gecertificeerde visgerechten in de Main Dining Room van Holland America Line, alsook het Lido Market buffet restaurant en andere specialiteitenrestaurants aan boord. Gecertificeerde zeevruchten uit negen regio’s wereldwijd worden opgenomen in het visaanbod van Holland America Line: Azië, Australië, Canada/New England, Mexico, Middellandse Zee, Noord-Europa, Zuid-Amerika, het Caribisch gebied en Hawaï.

Voorbeelden van vis-, schaal- en schelpdierproducten die onder de certificering van de Marine Stewardship Council en Aquaculture Stewardship Council vallen op cruises van Holland America Line zijn onder andere: Aziatische Rock Fish, Australische Barramundi, Canadese en New England Haddock, Hawaiian Opah, Mediterrane Zwaardvis, Mexicaanse Grouper, Noord-Europese Dover Sole en Zuid-Amerikaanse Chileense Zalm. 

LGBTQ+ Friendly

Holland America Line staat in de top 10 van de meest LGBTQ+ vriendelijke cruisemaatschappijen. Dat wil zeggen dat je aan boord jezelf kan zijn en tijdens de social hours aan boord andere LGBTQ+ passagiers kan ontmoeten bij een drankje.
